I own a Lexus in Houston, and I made some very big mistakes, so I just want to warn everybody against making the same ones I did. When we went to buy our Lexus in Houston, we had another one which we still hadn’t paid off. We were getting tired of it, and aside from that we needed a bigger car and could not afford to get a second one, so we decided to trade it in for a new Lexus in Houston even though we still had a year left to pay it off.
Never do this without the proper documentation!
When you trade in your Lexus in Houston, your dealer will often claim that they will pay the rest of what you owe on your car in 10 days or less. This is essentially what they are paying you for your trade in. However, if it’s a verbal promise, then it’s easily gone back on, and you might get call from a collector around the time your old car note is due finding out that your Lexus in Houston dealer hadn’t paid anything at all. Make sure that if you do this that it’s in the terms of the contract, clear and written.
