Reader’s Question:

What do you think of the Lexus GX 470? A neighbor just got one, and I’ve been eyeing it a lot. Is my envy well-founded?

Adrien

Houston, TX

Lexus mean luxury, and the GX 470 carries on this tradition of luxury through three rows of seats, a big V8 engine, chrome on the outside and a high-class polished interior. And if that’s not enough, you get to have a DVD entertainment system, a nav system, and Bluetooth, too. The Lexus GX 470 is a top-notch service utility vehicle, indeed.

It is also a capable 4-by-4. It is structurally strong and is therefore adept at travelling off-road. Its engineering is remarkable. Things like Hill-start Assist Control, Downhill Assist Control, Rear Adjustable Height Control and a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System will be there to help you go where no one else dared to before. But because the thing costs a hefty 40,000 clams up, I doubt that anyone would actually make a habit of off-road driving.

Now, there are two trims to choose from: There’s the base trim and then there’s the Sport. Both run on a 4.7-liter 263-hp engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

As compared to other 4-by-4s, the Lexus GX 470 is quieter and offers a more comfortable ride. Never mind that it looks like a Toyota 4Runner in disguise. With the GSX 470, you get the luxury stamp that is distinctly Lexus.

Reader’s Question:

Is there an SUV from Lexus that has hybrid technology in it? I’d love to drive one here in Texas

Jonas

Houston, TX

Jonas, the lowdown on hybrids: less fuel, more miles, save the planet. Don’t you just love it? And the good thing is automobile companies won’t stop with the research to come up with new technology. One thing is clear, though, going green won’t be just a fad for them. So let’s talk about a hybrid that’s more than a car, an SUV from Lexus, the RX 400 hybrid (RX 400h). How many horses do we have in this hybrid? How much load can it carry? How about space and safety? Let’s tackle it point by point before you go your favorite Texas Lexus dealer.

Okay, like any hybrid, as the name implies, the Lexus RX 400h does not run solely on an electric motor. To assist in providing sudden power needs, this Lexus has a 3.3 Liter 24-valve VVTi V6 engine. The electric motor takes over from the gas engine when the power demands are low. While running, the electric motor draws power from the Nickel Metal Hydride battery found under the trunk of the RX. These batteries charge up using a technology called regenerative braking. The combination of this power system of electric and gas-power engines produce about 268 horsepower, enough for the Lexus to tow 3,500 lbs and do about 25 miles per gallon in terms of combined fuel economy.

In terms of space, the car carries about 5 people comfortably. For cargo, the rear seats can be reconfigured to accommodate bigger loads. As for safety, since this SUV can still hit 60 mph in just 7 seconds, Lexus engineers incorporated, together with seat belts & airbags, side-impact reinforcement and impact energy redistribution into the RX 400h. This not only makes the RX 400h a fast, powerful and green car, but also a very safe car.

Reader’s Question:

I’ve set my sights on acquiring a Lexus as a second car. Now, before I go to one of the dealers here Texas, I’d like to find out more about the Lexus GS.

Jules

Houston, TX

Hey there, Jules. Good show! A Lexus will definitely bring or add some more pizzazz in your garage. A Lexus brings a certain air of style and elegance that is backed up by power under the hood. At least, that’s how I would describe the GS cars from Lexus. Now, on to the good part, shall we? What makes this car go vroom and zoom?

The GS series comes in three trims that differ mainly on the types of engine that is mounted on it. Let’s start with the GS 350 AWD and GS 350 RWD. Main difference between the two is the drive systems on them. As the name implies, AWD is all-wheel while RWD is rear-wheel drive. Both have six-speed sequential automatic transmission to move these fast machines using their powerful engines. These two are powered by a 3.5 Liter V6 engine that can do about 303 hp at 6,200 hp. These two still go 0 to 60 under 5.9 seconds. If that wasn’t great enough, you should look at the GS 460 RWD. Under the 460 RWD’s hood you’ll find a 4.6 Liter V8 with 8 –speed sequential automatic transmission. This car can rev up to 342 he at 6,200 rpm and this GS clocks 5.4 seconds on a 0 to 60 mph sprint. Vroom and zoom in Texas, Jules!

Lexus Dealership Houston Texas TX

Reader’s Question:

Hello, I know that Lexus already established its name as a car maker to be reckoned with. Silly me, I haven’t really gotten to know what Lexus models are out there for someone like me. I think of myself as someone who likes to live fast. I’d definitely love to zip around Houston, Texas in one. Care to recommend a Lexus model for me?

Stan

Houston, TX

Lets deal with, “someone who likes to live fast” first. Okay, let’s take it literally at this point. So speed gives you a “high.” And what can Lexus offer to someone like you? I figured, at the least, that you’d probably like to look at what’s under the hood, horses and all. I think a choice from the 2009 Lexus sedans can’t go wrong, but that’s me. We can always check out a sportier coupe. But do check out what I wrote down for you.

Let’s start with Lexus sedan basics. You can choose from the IS, ES, GS and LS models. How do they differ, you ask? Let’s check the horses and count the seconds. For the 2009 IS, you can get about 306 hp from a 3.5 Liter V6 and sprint to 60 miles per hour in about 5.6 seconds. Quick enough, ain’t it? The 2009 ES will give you 272 horses from its 3.5 Liter V6 and will take you to 60 mph in 6.8. The GS and LS, with their powerful V8s, 5.4 seconds to hit 60 mph. Style-wise, I’m going for the IS. I think it’ll be enough to give you that sporty feeling without getting that “I’m driving a fast big box” sensation. Not bad for an entry level sedan, right?

Hope that helped you out there in Houston, Texas.

Reader’s Question:

My job here in Houston, Texas requires most of my time on the road. I am looking for a sedan that lets me do quiet thinking during most of my drives. What Lexus sedan would you recommend?

Stephen

Houston, TX

Indeed your job requires a strong car that would take you to places without getting yourself all flared up. One sedan type car that I recommend is the 2008 Lexus ES. It does not only offer luxury, it gives you that quietude that you are looking for in a midsize sedan car. It is powered by an astonishing 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 272 horsepower. Acceleration speeds up to 60 miles per hour from a 6.8 seconds transition. The six speed automatic transition is also flawless. Given this very strong character, the 2008 Lexus ES is certified to an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle. Yet, you won’t feel any jerk on it even if you’re running at 60mph. In fact, you can even sip a cup of cappuccino while on your way to a meeting or business trip. I myself got an experience of its smoothness and quietness when I took a test drive around Houston, Texas.

The 2008 version of the Lexus ES series is fully packed with great features that you would certainly enjoy and love. It would bring you the comfort that you are looking for especially that you mentioned that you are always on call for duty. One suggestion that I can also advise, is to match it with a good deal of insurance protection. Check out the premium quotations on this site.

2008 Lexus ES Series Houston Texas TX

Reader’s Question:

I have read a great deal of articles about the Lexus ES on various car websites on Houston, Texas. Can you give a brief description of the packages lined up for the Lexus ES 350 Series?

George

Houston, TX

Lexus has been one of the best players in the automotive industry. Surely it has proven its integrity when it comes to producing high end quality cars. As for this year, Lexus made not so significant updates on the ES series.

Lexus has not made any major revisions for 2008 aside from the personal reading lamps for rear seat passengers. Price range for this model is more or less $33,800. It actually comes in several packages which would require an additional thousand dollars for updates. The premium package ($1,280) adds rear-seat side-impact airbags, leather seat upholstery, auto-dimming exterior mirrors and Bluetooth wireless technology. More options are included on the Premium Plus package which would cost you about $2,480. It includes contents of the Premium package adds a power driver’s seat cushion extender, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated and ventilated front seats, and front passenger seat memory. The Ultra-Luxury Package ($5,380) combines the contents of the Premium and Premium Plus packages and adding up a panoramic glass roof, power rear sunshade, adaptive front lighting system with HID headlamps and 10-spoke graphite-finish alloy wheels to name a few.

Certainly, it would cost about a few thousand dollars, that is why I strongly recommend getting a reliable car insurance should you choose any of the said line up.

Lexus LFC Houston Texas

Reader’s Question:

I have seen a few Lexus LFC here in Houston, Texas. What are the most impeccable features of this coupe?

Russell

Houston, TX

The Lexus LFC has a bunch of interesting and state of the art features. It does not have a rearview mirror anymore because it uses camera and a 3D instrumental panel. It has custom fitted bucket seats giving a larger space for rear passengers. You can almost mistaken the driving feeling with an F1 racing car since the interiors communicates with the driver by means of drive by wire technology, not mentioning the transparent speed gauges which are neatly stacked on the steering column.

One of the most outstanding features is the central console of the coupe. It actually runs the entirety of the interior. The displays and controls can be found under this see through console, being lighted by a blue background light. There is an opening for the driver created by wing like instruments lowered to the front compartment. Aside from the interiors, this coupe is also fitted with a powerful V8 engine. I consider this as a masterpiece of Lexus and may be treated as major competitor against existing supercar manufacturers. Although this car may come in an expensive price, I also suggest that you can browse through different car insurance providers to check what best fits your budget. Read on this website for premium rates and quotations.
